Financial Reporting Analyst

Financial Reporting Analyst

(Full-time, Remote)

Fisher Phillips, a premier international labor and employment law firm, is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Analyst to support the firm’s finance and accounting department. The Financial Reporting Analyst will be a key contributor to the finance team and report to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. This position will have the opportunity to elevate Fisher Phillips’ financial reporting function and must be comfortable translating raw financial data into insightful, executive-level reports. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong understanding of legal industry financials, works confidently with relational databases, and possesses a strong track-record of implementing financial reporting solutions using SQL, SSRS, and other financial reporting tools. The role will also work cross-functionally, emphasizing the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Reporting Resource

  • Develops and maintains standardized financial reports that leverage multiple databases, using SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Pivot Tables, and other reporting tools
  • Assesses and responds to report requests that require technical SQL skills, report development, and automation
  • Supports the financial month-end and year-end processes through the production of financial reporting, with an expectation to streamline existing processes
  • Produces annual reporting in support of the attorney compensation process and the annual budget process
  • Supports the annual financial survey process, including the consolidation of data from multiple sources into standardized reports
  • Works cross-functionally to assess departmental reporting needs and leads the implementation of reporting solutions

Report Optimization & Data Integrity

  • Leads the implementation of financial reporting tools that support the firm’s reporting strategy
  • Ensures data integrity across financial reporting and BI dashboards maintained by finance, accounting, billing, collections, and client intake
  • Supports departmental efforts to improve data quality, visualization, and streamline reporting processes
  • Subject matter expert for databases, table structures, and financial metrics that support firm financial reports and key performance indicators
  • Optimizes the reporting capabilities of finance and accounting software, supporting the implementation of new and enhanced reporting (e.g., Aderant, ExpertTime, BillBlast, ARCS, Iridium)
  • Works with the financial systems and IT teams to streamline data connections and workflows to produce complex reporting
  • Contributes to the enhancement of the SSRS suite
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of financial data tables
  • Evaluates reporting tools and recommends reporting best practices to support faster response times to report requests from senior leadership, finance, accounting, billing, collections, and other support units

Business Intelligence Dashboards

  • Serves as the liaison to the third-party vendor of BI dashboards, manages project implementations and change requests, and ensures data integrity across financial reporting platforms
  • Architects the enhancements to dashboard designs that improve the user experience and sees design implementations through to completion
  • Supports the consolidation and migration of financial reports to new and existing reporting platforms

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, computer science, or information systems
  • Proficient with law firm accounting systems and table structures (e.g., Aderant or Elite 3E)
  • Advanced experience leveraging SQL, SSRS, BI software, and MS Excel to produce financial reporting
  • Demonstrated expertise in translating complex financial data into clear, concise visual reports that effectively inform and guide executive decision-making
  • Proven ability to engage with stakeholders to gather and assess technical business requirements, and to design and implement reporting solutions that align with the organization's strategic objectives
  • 5+ years of experience working in a global law firm preferred

The yearly rate range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000. Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, location, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
