Litigation Secretary

(Cleveland, Full-time, On-Site)

Fisher Phillips, a premier international labor and employment law firm, is seeking a skilled and experienced Litigation Secretary to join our team. In this essential role, you will help ensure the smooth operation of our services, directly supporting our attorneys in delivering exceptional client service and upholding our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings
  • File legal documents with state and federal courts and agencies (e-filing knowledge is a must).
  • Manage complex case files.
  • Handle time-sensitive legal documents.
  • Maintaining attorney calendars through Outlook and CompuLaw (i.e. scheduling appointments, depositions calendaring due dates, etc.).
  • Assist in the preparation for and attendance at court appearances at depositions.
  • Provide support in preparing for and participating in trials, mediations and other legal proceedings.
  • Organize and coordinate travel arrangements for assigned attorneys.
  • Enter, review and revise timekeeper timesheets including consistent identification of litigation codes, when applicable.
  • Prepare attorney reimbursements and mileage.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of vendor invoices; prepare accurate check requests and timely submit invoices for payment to client or accounting.
  • Communicate with clients, counsel, and court staff.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of a high school diploma required (College degree is preferred but not required).
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a legal secretary in a litigation practice is required.
  • Experience with Pacer, ECF, CompuLaw, and Concur.
  • Proficiency in legal terminology and court procedures
  • Proven ability to draft, format, and proofread complex legal documents with exceptional accuracy, including the ability to mark and generate a table of contents and table of authorities.
  • Strong computer proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Document Management Systems, Time Entry, e-filing and database software.
  • A high degree of professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

The hourly rate range for this position is $32.31 - $39.49. Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, location, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
