Fisher Phillips, a premier international labor and employment law firm, is seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Docketing Services to join our team. In this essential role, you will help ensure the smooth operation of our services, directly supporting our attorneys in delivering exceptional client service and upholding our commitment to excellence.

Position Summary

The Director of Docketing Services is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and management of Fisher Phillips' Docketing Department. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, this position is responsible for implementing and leading the Firm’s centralized Docketing Department. Responsibilities include standardized docketing processes, ensuring the accurate and timely management of litigation deadlines, and promoting consistent practices across all offices.

The Director will build a high-performing team, and partner closely with attorneys, the Office of the General Counsel, Office Administration, Information Technology, and Knowledge Management to optimize the firm’s use of Milana and other docketing technologies.

Essential Responsibilities

Department Leadership

• Develop and execute the long-term vision for the firm's Docketing Department, including recruiting, training and retaining a high-performing team of docketing professionals.
• Direct the day-to-day operations of the Docketing Department, including staffing, workload distribution, and resource allocation to ensure timely, high-quality service.
• Evaluate the needs and resources of the Docketing Department in further support of the firm’s risk management goals.
• Establish department goals, service standards, and performance metrics.
• Lead efforts for a standardized team, including fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Implement firmwide docketing policies and procedures.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Oversee the accurate calculation, entry, and monitoring of litigation deadlines across all jurisdictions.
• Partner with the Office of the General Counsel on calendaring compliance and monitor adherence through quality assurance and periodic audits.

Technology & Innovation

• Partner with the Docketing Systems Manager, Information Technology, and Knowledge Management to drive the strategic use of the Milana docketing system and other technologies that enhance docketing operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve docketing processes through technology, automation, and standardized workflows.

Collaboration

• Build strong relationships with attorneys, Office Administrators, Regional Managing Partners, and administrative departments.
• Serve as the firm’s primary resource for docketing operations .
• Partner with Learning & Development to support firmwide docketing standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent professional certifications preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and significant leadership experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible litigation docketing experience in a large law firm.
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing centralized docketing, calendaring, litigation support, or comparable risk management function.
• Demonstrated success leading organizational change and implementing firmwide operational initiatives.
• Experience partnering with executive leadership, attorneys, and cross-functional departments.
• Extensive knowledge of federal, state, appellate, and administrative court rules.
• Experience with enterprise docketing systems, preferably Milana or a comparable platform.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.

The annual range for this position is $125,732 - $200,000. Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, location, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
