THE OPPORTUNITY
Fisher Phillips is an international labor and employment law firm, hiring a talented Systems Administrator to lead our department and support the needs of the firm at an international level. This position can be performed hybrid/remote from any of our 37 offices, but will be based out of the Atlanta office. In this role, the Systems Administrator will ensure a smooth operation of all firm technology systems. This includes installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of on premise and cloud server infrastructure, local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. A strong combination of technical, administration, troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills is vital to the Systems Administrator’s success.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Configure, install, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot multi-site WAN, SDWAN routers, gateways, multi-VLAN’ed firewalls, switches, switch stacks, and other networking infrastructure components.
- Manage complex VMware environment with multiple VLANs, hyperconverged infrastructure.
- Consider infrastructure resources to efficiently design, install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot complex server infrastructure, assessing application requirements to properly allocate resources such as CPU, Memory, storage, and storage types.
- Assess printing and scanning requirements. Order, install, maintain, and troubleshoot multifunction devices with centralized scanning and accounting system.
- Perform systems engineering tasks and activities concentrated on major systems design, integration, implementation, operations support, and training.
- Identify areas of automation, efficiency, and process improvements for application and deskside support.
- Assists with maintaining the firm’s anti-virus and security platforms to ensure servers and computers are protected from all forms of malicious software and security intrusions.
- Design and implement and test the firm’s Disaster Recovery plan and Backup policies to ensure recoverability of lost data and ensure continuity of business operation with minimal downtime.
- Provide routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (power, battery backup, ISP circuits, etc.)
- Identify technology needs for continued growth and success of the firm, identify proactive solutions, and research and identify new products to improve business efficiency.
- Provide escalation support to the Technical Support and Applications teams.
- Work with the staff and attorneys to ensure that they understand how to use the technology tools available to them, to enable them to realize the highest level of productivity.
- Provide quality assurance review and the evaluation of new and existing software products
- Provide input to policy level discussions regarding networking and security standards
- Create detailed system documentation, knowledgebase, and training materials.
- Cross-train and provide troubleshooting procedures to other coworkers and staff.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Information Systems or similar and/or 5 years equivalent experience.
- Positive, courteous, professional, and service oriented attitude.
- CCNA, MCSE or similar certifications a plus.
- Expert level knowledge required for configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows server, multi-site Active Directory, advanced configuration and troubleshooting of the following: DNS, DHCP, DFS, active directory site configuration, and replication, windows file system structures and share permissions, analysis of system, application, and other event logs.
- Strong understanding of hybrid on-prem AD and Azure AD environments, groups, attributes and replication.
- Strong knowledge of messaging systems, mail flow, and spam filtering.
- Strong knowledge of identity services, federated single sign on, and MFA technologies.
- 5 years’ experience building and managing Microsoft Server physical and virtual within conventional and hyperconverged VMware environments as well as conventional storage arrays and SANs.
- Advanced experience with data, application, and systems migration with high availability requirements.
- Experience managing hosted infrastructure services and virtual servers in Azure or AWS cloud a strong plus.
- Experience administering Aderant or other accounting system a strong plus.
- Working knowledge of database concepts, SQL server, queries, maintenance plans, & redundancy.
- Strong working knowledge of common application and database relationships.
- Experience managing Microsoft Remote Desktop or similar VDI technologies.
- Experience managing network routers, switches, firewalls, access points.
- Strong understanding of layer 2 network protocols (VLANs, and Trunking, tagging) and layer 3 protocols (TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF) required.
- Experience installing and managing a VOIP phone as a service.
- Experience with Teams and/or Zoom room conferencing equipment.
- Experience working in a law firm or professional services firm environment.
- High degree of technical proficiency with excellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
- Must be able to work extended hours when needed.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with people from both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to new systems, processes, and procedures.
WORK CONDITIONS

- Able to travel for remote office installs or moves.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Solid mechanical aptitude and dexterity of hands, able to utilize hand or power tools to install and remove systems equipment including conferencing, networking, data center hardware.
- Occasional inspection of cables in floor and ceilings.
- Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
