Legal Secretary

Fisher Phillips, a premier international labor and employment law firm, is seeking a skilled Legal Secretary to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring smooth operations, directly supporting our attorneys in providing exceptional client service, and upholding our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Document Preparation: Draft, format, and proofread legal documents (briefs, pleadings, and correspondence) while ensuring compliance with court and firm standards.
  • Court Filings: Handle state and federal court filings with precision, both electronically and manually, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Client & Matter Management: Process and manage new client/matter requests efficiently.
  • Document Management: Maintain and update electronic client files using the firm's document management system for seamless access.
  • Docketing: Maintain attorney calendars via CompuLaw & Outlook, including scheduling hearings, depositions, and due dates.
  • Meeting and Travel Coordination: Arrange meetings, conference calls, and travel itineraries for attorneys.
  • Timekeeping and Expense Reimbursements: Enter, review, and apply litigation codes for time entries; manage expense reimbursements.
  • Vendor Management: Process and verify vendor invoices, submit accurate check requests, and ensure timely payments.
  • Team Support: Provide backup assistance to attorneys, paralegals, and other legal staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years as a legal secretary (labor & employment experience preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in state and federal e-filing systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong command of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and legal software such as iManage, CompuLaw, Acrobat, Best Authority, Litera, and ALN Forms. Aderant Expert Time experience is a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED required (college degree or legal secretary certification is preferred, but not required).

In accordance with California’s amended labor code as stated in Senate Bill 1162, the expected salary range for this California position is between is $97,500 - $107,250. Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, location, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
